Private tour of the Mae Hong Son Valley

Mae Hong Son is located in the north-western corner of Thailand, bordering Myanmar (Burma) in the west. It is the most sparsely populated province of Thailand with more than three quarters of its area consisting of mountains and forests. It is a good place to observe the customs and life styles of these ethnic minorities. It is full of scenic spots, including spectacular waterfalls and caves in addition to numerous ancient temples of the Burmese style.

Day 1: Transfer to airport for morning flight departing at 10.00 for the 35 minute flight to Mae Hong Son. Transfer to the Imperial Tara Hong Son Hotel. Afternoon visit the 200 year old Burmese Temples.

Day 2: Morning visit the fish caves the home of numerous strange coloured carp before continuing to a Karen hilltribe village. Transfer onto elephant and trek through the jungle to the Long Neck Padong tribe. The women of this tribe wear numerous brass rings around their necks so that they grow elongated. Continue by high speed longtail boat down the Pai River to Ban Huay Dua. Transfer back to the Hotel.

Day 3: Morning free to explore the local market before transferring to the airport for the midday flight to Chiang Mai.
