Hong Kong sightseeing
 |
Occupied
by the UK since 1841, Hong Kong was finally returned to China
on 1 July 1997, though little appears to have changed since
the handover. Hawkers and traders still sit in the shadow
of modern sky scrapers and the old ferry still plys between
the mainland and the island.
Justifiedly
known as a shopping destination, Hong Kong is also a culinary
delight, with a wide range of Chinese food as well as many
top quality international restaurants. There are many islands
around Hong Kong which can also be worth a visit, including
Lantau, home to the world's largest outdoors bronze Buddha
