Ba Be National Park
Ba Be National Park,
is located in Bac Kan province and was established in 1992. It covers
5,000ha and includes a freshwater lake, covering approximately 500ha,
in an area of limestone mountains approximately 100miles (160km)
north of Hanoi. It’s a tropical rainforest area with over 400 named
plant species. The 300 wildlife species in the forest include bears,
monkeys, birds, butterflies and other insects...
The lake is surrounded
by tropical rain forest, some of which remains in good condition.
Approximately 100 species of birds and 30 species of mammal have
been recorded, including several that are rare or endemic, including
pheasants, green peafowl, gibbons and Francois' leaf monkey.
The area around Ba Be
National Park is also inhabited by some colourful ethnic groups
with very traditional lifestyle: Tay 58%; Dzao 21%; Mong 13%; Nung
7%; Kinh 1%. The local ethnic diversity combines with the perfectly
fresh eco-system which makes Ba Be National Park an ideal destination
for nature and culture travellers.
