3/5:
Depart London/Heathrow with Cathay Pacific
4/5:
Morning arrive Hong kong and Depart for Hanoi . Transfer to the
Guoman Hotel.

5/5:
City tour to include Ho Chi Minh's mausoleum and museum. The
Temple of Literature, Vietnam's first university and the backstreets
of the old quarter. In the evening we will watch a performance
of Vietnamese water-puppetry before dinner. This art is unique
to Vietnam.
6/5:
Morning transfer to the airport for the flight to Dien Bien
Phu 13.30-14.40. On arrive transfer to the hotel. Now a quiet,
provincial backwater and colourful market centre for the surrounding
'montagnard' peoples, in 1956 this isolated valley was the
site of the catastrophic French defeat that lead to the end
of their rule in Indochina. Afternoon tour of the museum and
A1 hill.Over night in the Moung Thanh Hotel.

Memorial day.
8/5:
Day tour of the jungle command post General Giap's HQ and the French
command posts and trench positions.

9/5:
Morning visit the local market before getting the flight back
to Hanoi departing at 14.10 to arrive at 15.10. Transfer to
the Gouman Hotel.
10/5:
Day in Hanoi. Visit Army Museum and Air Force Museum.
11/5:
Depart Hanoi for Hong kong.
12/5:
Arrive London/Heathrow.
