Cambodia has been isolated for many years and suffered the rule of one of the most barbaric regimes ever seen. This small beautiful country is now slowly starting to recover from the years of war and instability. Under the organisation of the United Nations, elections were held and a new government was installed. After years in exile King Sihanouk has also returned to restore the Monarchy.

With this return to relative stability, investment in the economy should ensure a brighter future for the Cambodian people. Although travel is still restricted it is now possible to visit this fascinating country.

Cambodia has one of the richest cultures in Asia, the capital Phnom Penh has been described as the loveliest of the former Colonial cities in Indochina.

Numerous pagodas and temples are dotted throughout the city with the Royal Palace dominating the centre.

You can spend a day visiting these sites and exploring this interesting city, its wide streets and tree-lined avenues make travelling easy and pleasurable.

From Phnom Penh you will cross Lake Tonle Sap, a huge fresh water lake in the centre of Cambodia, and arrive at the little town of Siem Reap.

From here you will have easy access to Angkor Wat, the largest concentration of religious monuments in the world. This complex is scattered over 50 square miles and consists of walled cities, magnificent temples, sculptures, causeways and reservoirs.

This is the richest cultural site in South East Asia and one of the most important in the world.
